 2017 Preview 


       Providence Christian completed the 2016 season with a 5-5 record. Last year Providence Christian just missed making the playoffs with a fifth place finish in Class 3A region two with a 3-4 region record.

       Providence Christian was inconsistent offensively last year and they need some improvement if the Eagles want to be competitive. They only averaged 15.9 points a game.

       Since 2010, Providence Christian has gone a combined 43-29. Their 60.0% winning percentage ranks 18th in Class 3A over the past seven seasons.

       Over the past 11 seasons, Providence Christian has managed to compile a record of 64-50. Their 56.0% winning percentage ranks 21st in Class 3A and 126th in the AHSAA.

       The Eagles are led by head coach Kenny Keith who is entering his sixth season at the helm. He has compiled a record of 28-21 over the past five seasons at Providence Christian. Under his direction the Eagles have qualified for the playoffs a total of two times. They have not won a region crown with Coach Keith.

       Coach Keith's overall record as a head football coach in five season stands at 28-21 (57.1%).

       The Providence Christian Eagles will play in Class 3A region two during the 2017 season.

       With a little luck and some improvement, the Eagles could find themselves challenging for one of the playoff spots for region two this season. Providence Christian came up short of the playoffs last year but are optimistic of a return to the post season this year.

       The Eagles open the 2017 season on the road against non-region opponent Alabama Christian on Friday, August 25 at Eagles Stadium. Last year the Alabama Christian Eagles finished with an overall record of 4-7 and in fourth place in Class 4A region two. The Eagles lost in the first round of the Class 4A playoffs to Andalusia by a score of 42-24.

       Providence Christian and Alabama Christian have met a total of 2 times on the football field. The Eagles have a 1-1-0 record against the Eagles. They last met in 2016 with Providence Christian winning by a score of 6-22.

       Providence Christian returns 3A All-State Junior linebacker Ricky Hall. He was named to the second team last season.
